The Power Of Losing - Preached June 22, 2019Church On The Rock St. Augustine
(2 Timothy 2:5 ESV) An athlete is not crowned unless he competes…
- We all have a yesterday.
- We all have a tomorrow.
- We all have a present.
Growing
1. Own your past.
(2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT) Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2. Paint your target.
(Philippians 3:14 NIV) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
3. Run your play.
(1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
(Isaiah 44:22 NLT) I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.

The Gospel According To Tupperware
Who am I?
Why am I here?
(Colossians 1:15-16 NIV) The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Your IDENTITY is not based on EARTHLY THINGS.
(Colossians 1:17-22 NIV) 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.
(Colossians 1:13-14 NIV) For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
The Tupperware Party
A.W. Tozer - “I am not afraid of the devil, he can handle me- he got judo I never heard of. But he can’t handle the One whom I am joined; he can’t handle the One to whom I am united; he can’t handle the One whose nature dwells in my nature.”
(Colossians 1:26-27 NIV)
26 “the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Don't Miss Your Miracle
Heart Burn
(Luke 24:32 NLT) They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”
(1 John 2:6 NLT) Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
(Matthew 5:13-16 NLT) “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
1. Live with authenticity.
(Philippians 3:12-14 TLB) I don’t mean to say I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. 13 No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.
2. Walk in genuine love.
(Romans 12:10 NLT) Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
3. Have a plan of action.
(1 Peter 4:10 NLT) God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

Luke 24:28-29 - By this time they were nearing Emmaus and the end of their journey. Jesus would have gone on, but they begged him to stay...
- Don't miss your miracle because you never invited God into your situation. -
We have habits of doing things in our own strength. Don't let Jesus move on, ask him to come in...
(Revelation 3:20 NLT) Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
Establish a consistent and conducive place and or time to meet with God.
