In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Josh sits down with longtime friend and Church on the Rock Worship Director Jeremy Dowler for a conversation that spans decades of friendship, faith, music, mistakes, restoration, and the presence of God.
They go all the way back to growing up around Trinity Chapel and the early days of Church on the Rock, learning music before YouTube tutorials and Planning Center, late night worship sessions, old school worship culture, Delirious?, youth ministry, basketball stories, and the people who gave them opportunities long before they were ready.
Jeremy also opens up about a season when he walked away from church and felt like the prodigal son, the moment he realized he wanted to come back to his Father’s house, the restoration that followed, and why those experiences now shape the way he leads worship and pours into the next generation.
Then the conversation turns toward music itself. From the structure of scales and chords to tension and release, Jeremy explains why music continually reminds him of God and why worship is about far more than playing the right songs. It is about serving the body of Christ, creating space for people to encounter God, and joining together as the church to make much of Him.

What does the Bible really say about money, possessions, generosity, and stewardship? In the final message of In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey explores what it means to follow Jesus with everything God has entrusted to us. Through 1 Timothy 6, Psalm 24, Cain and Abel, the rich young ruler, and Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6, we see that God is not asking us to reject the things we have. He is inviting us to make sure our possessions never have us. The shift from ownership to stewardship changes the way we view our money, resources, generosity, security, and ultimately our relationship with God.
Where our treasure goes, our heart follows. So what are we looking to money and possessions to provide that only Jesus can truly give? Comfort, recognition, experiences, influence, independence, security, pleasure, and control can all feel like life, but they cannot give us the life that is truly life. This message challenges us to live with open hands, trust God instead of our circumstances, and remember that everything we have is from Him, through Him, and for Him.
