Be Still | Pastor Josh Hersey | Draw Near
30 minutes ago
As we begin 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, this message launches our Draw Near series with a simple but challenging invitation: be still. Using the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10 and Jesus’ words in John 15, we are reminded that fruitfulness does not come from striving or religious effort, but from abiding in Christ. In a fast-paced, driven culture, Jesus calls us back to His original design of relationship, rest, and closeness with God. This teaching unpacks what it means to remain in the vine, why doing for God must flow from being with Him, and how slowing down in His presence leads to real transformation. This is an invitation to stop striving, sit at His feet, and rediscover the one thing that truly matters.

Fasting Made Simple
Fasting is one of the most misunderstood spiritual practices in the church that is often wrapped in guilt, pressure, or extremes. In this Cornerstone Conversation the fellas strip fasting down to what Jesus actually meant when He said “when you fast.” They talk honestly about food fasts, social media fasts, failure, grace, corporate fasting, health limitations, and why fasting isn’t about manipulating God but about drawing near to Him. If fasting has ever felt confusing, intimidating, or out of reach, this conversation brings clarity, freedom, and a practical path forward.

Vision Sunday | Pastor Josh Hersey | January 2026
Sunday Jan 04, 2026
Sunday Jan 04, 2026
Vision Sunday is always a moment to pause, look back with gratitude, and look forward with clarity. In this message, Pastor Josh reflects on what God has done over the past year at Church on the Rock and where He is leading us next. From lives changed and baptisms celebrated to missions expanded and new discipleship pathways formed, this isn’t a story about numbers or growth for growth’s sake. It’s about faithfulness. Drawing from Matthew 25, Psalm 143, and Jesus’ compassion for the crowds in Matthew 9, we’re reminded that fruit is always the result of faithfulness and that God entrusts more to those who steward well what’s already in their hands.
As we step into a new year, this message calls every person to take personal ownership of discipleship. Discipleship is not something done to us; it’s who we are. You’ll hear why we’re launching Thursday night services, how this creates space for our plus ones, and why 100 percent participation remains our primary goal. Whether you’re new, returning, or have called this church home for years, this message invites you to ask a simple prayer: “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.” If we remain faithful, we trust God to bring the fruit, together.

Church Online | Sunday 12.28.25
Sunday Dec 28, 2025
Sunday Dec 28, 2025
What if the space between Christmas and New Year is not something to rush past, but an invitation to slow down, breathe, and listen? In this online only service, Church on the Rock pauses the noise and the pressure to remind us why Christmas is still merry even when life feels complicated. The story of Jesus was never polished or easy. It was filled with obedience, disruption, loss, fear, and hope colliding in real human lives. And yet, right in the middle of all that tension, Jesus entered the world as the greatest gift we could ever receive. This message connects Christmas to Easter and reminds us that our hope is not rooted in circumstances, but in a Savior who conquered sin, death, and the grave.
As we stand on the edge of a new year, this message calls us into a posture of surrender and trust, praying like David, God teach me to do Your will and lead me forward. It challenges us to think differently about 2026 by leaning into spiritual rhythms, community, serving, generosity, and investing in the next generation. Whether you are tired, hopeful, uncertain, or ready for a fresh start, this service invites you to start the year with your yes on the table and your roots planted deep in God, believing that when our trust is in Him, we can flourish in every season.

Unexpected Change | Pastor Josh Hersey | Why So Merry
Monday Dec 22, 2025
Monday Dec 22, 2025
Christmas is often painted as peaceful and predictable, but the true story of Jesus is filled with disruption, urgency, and unexpected turns. In this message from the Why So Merry? series, we step into Matthew 2 and the overlooked tension of the Christmas story, where Joseph is forced to uproot his family overnight to protect the very Messiah he was entrusted with. Through Joseph’s immediate obedience and willingness to follow God into unfamiliar territory, we see a powerful picture of how God often works through unexpected change rather than around it. Loss, transitions, new callings, and sudden shifts are not interruptions to God’s plan, they are often the pathway through which He leads us.
